The Transfiguration: Recognizing Miracles | One-Minute Homily

by | Mar 5, 2023 | One-Minute Homily, Videos

Do we recognize the moments when God is revealed to us? Alex Hale, SJ, encourages us to recognize the Transfigurations that take place in our own lives. Based on the readings for Sunday, March 5, 2023.

Are you aware of the miracles around you?

I’m Alex Hale and this is my One-Minute Reflection.

The transfiguration is dramatic.

Jesus walks up the mountain with his friends and lets his divinity be shown, two of the most foundational figures of the Jewish faith appear and converse with Jesus, the voice of the Father is heard in such a way that it terrified the disciples.

Then Jesus is suddenly standing there alone. Because of this, one might ignore the wonders that just took place or even believe that they didn’t happen. Sometimes we do the same and the incredible miracles that God has worked in our lives become part of the background.

This Sunday, I encourage you to go back up the mountain with Jesus and look at when he has been transfigured in your life. It could be as simple as the fact that we are still loved, even though we’ve let those we love down. In remembering God’s gifts to us, we are beginning to turn back to him with all our hearts.
