God is happy you’re here | One-Minute Homily

Lent is a time to experience God’s love. Austin Kleman, SJ reflects on the Transfiguration as a moment of Jesus’ love for us during the season of Lent. Based on the readings for the Second Sunday of Lent.

God is happy you are here.

Hi, I’m Austin Kleman, and this is my One-Minute reflection.

In the midst of Lent, we hear the story of Jesus’ Transfiguration: three of his followers see his divinity revealed, while Moses and Elijah appear to him. Peter, in awe of Jesus and these mighty prophets, proclaims, “Lord, it is good that we are here.”

Now, you might wonder how this story fits into the season of Lent, a period of repentance and asking for forgiveness. Well, too often Lent can become a time of focusing on our feelings of shame, sin, or struggle.

Instead, Jesus is inviting us to focus less on what might be wrong and more on God’s love for us, whatever our shortcomings. Will you let God love you today?

It is good that we are here. God is happy you are here.
