Our inclination might be to turn to Jesus in times of help. Kevin Lee, SJ reflects how we should also turn to Christ to share our gratitude and our joy. Based on the readings for the 28th Sunday of Ordinary Time.
Do we ever celebrate with Christ?
Hi, I’m Kevin Lee, and this is my One-Minute Reflection.
As a high school tutor, I normally meet students when they’re struggling in a class. I love to accompany the students and help them learn, but I don’t always know how they do later. Occasionally, a student will come back and say “Mr. Lee! Guess what?! I passed my test!” and we celebrate together.
In Luke’s Gospel, Jesus cleanses ten lepers, but only one comes back to share the joy of their healing. It’s natural for us to turn to Christ when we need help, but how often do we then go back?
True faith not only asks for help, but also returns to the giver in celebration. Let’s not just go to Christ for help, but also go to Christ to celebrate, and allow Jesus to say to us, “Stand up and go; your faith has saved you.”
