Growing the Kingdom | One-Minute Homily

by | Aug 24, 2025 | One-Minute Homily

God has a vast kingdom—and everyone is invited. Ty Wahlbrink, SJ reflects on the importance of missionary discipleship so that all might come to experience God’s love. Based on the readings for the 21st Sunday of Ordinary Time.

The Kingdom of God has room for everyone. You, your friends, and your neighbors—if they accept the invite.

Hi, I’m Ty Wahlbrink and this is my one-minute reflection.

Imagine standing on a shore or mountaintop, gazing at the horizon. God’s vision for the Kingdom is still broader.

In Luke 13, Jesus says people will come from the east, west, north, and south to celebrate in God’s Kingdom. Isaiah 66 reminds us God gathers people from every nation and language.

But people will only join this vast Kingdom if they know about it. Early in his papacy, Pope Leo has emphasized missionary discipleship—the call for every Christian to share their faith.

You might think this work is for priests or teachers. Maybe you feel overwhelmed by the spiritual apathy of many today. But Missionary discipleship begins simply—with one person and one invitation.

Who could you invite today? The Kingdom has room—but they need to know where to go.
