Grace is like a snowball rolling down a hill. Will Hayes, SJ discusses how the kingdom needs all of us saying yes to the invitation of Christ – no matter how small. Based on the readings for the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Grace is like a snowball rolling down a hill. Hi, I’m Will Hayes, and this is my one-minute reflection.
In Luke 10, Jesus sends out the seventy-two, saying, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.” They go in faith—and grace follows. That’s how grace works: it builds when we say yes to Christ. One yes leads to another, and momentum grows.
One day I said yes to an event with another Jesuit even though we were short on time. On the way a man recognized us. He was a migrant who had met my Jesuit brother at a shelter months earlier and over 2,000 miles away. In that unexpected reunion, he shared how his life was unfolding and how Jesus was providing for him.
It was a moment of grace—one we would’ve missed without that first yes to attend the event.
Grace grows when we respond to Jesus. It gathers and multiplies.
What “yes” will you offer today that lets His grace keep rolling?
