Worth Watching: The Wind

Wind Map 2

Wind Map from http://hint.fm

I’m sure I’m supposed to be doing something relevant to the betterment of humanity right now… but instead, for the last 15 or whatever minutes, I’ve been mesmerized by the white-etched lines of wind on this map of the United States.

Take a look.

It’s hypnotizing, right? (And that was before you knew you can zoom in I bet).  This site that made it – http://hint.fm – does wonderful things helping us visualize, comprehend (and thereby possibly empathize-with) the data that surrounds and so often overwhelms us these days.  “This map,” they say, “shows you the delicate tracery of wind flowing over the U.S., … [the] energy that powered the first explorations of the world, and that may be a key to the future.”

As you watch the artist(s) at work, consider taking a breath to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who found the experience of those winds less beautiful than I have.
