Here’s a link to a speech by hipster icon (at least this aging hipster’s icon), and gosh-darn-pretty-good-gosh-darn writer David Foster Wallace.
Those of us with an Ignatian bent may well see something in the speech that laterally addresses Ignatius’ Two Standards — that great prayer wherein the saint asks us to consider the ways that Christ acts in our world in contrast with the actions of the Evil Spirit.
Seems like DFW gives us something like a hipster-icon version of Original sin and maybe Ignatian Humanism as well. Or something, something, something like that.
