You’re worth saving because God loves you. Chris Kinkor, SJ reflects on how God’s love makes us worthy of salvation, and not the status symbols of the world. Based on the readings for the 9th Sunday of Ordinary Time.
You’re worth saving because God loves you.
Hi, I’m Chris Kinkor, and this is my One Minute Reflection.
We live in a world that defines people by status symbols. The cars we own, the grades we get, the job we have. Other symbols, like where we go on vacation, or even how often we visit our families, are ways we compare ourselves with others.
None of these things are bad–in fact, they’re all blessings. But John 3 shows that we’re already worthy of salvation, not because of our jobs or what we own, but because God loves us and created us in His Image. Really, that’s it.
God sent Jesus to save all of us, that through Him we may live forever. Today, God invites us to find new life in Jesus–to believe in Him, to step away from sin, and to live humbly. God loves us, and that makes us worth saving.
