Temples of God | One-Minute Homily

by | Nov 9, 2025 | One-Minute Homily

The Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica celebrates the cathedral of Rome, the “mother church of all churches.” Kevin Lee, SJ reminds us how Jesus has zeal for all his temples–which includes us! Based on the readings for the feast.

Hey, what are you doing tonight?

Hi, I’m Kevin Lee, and this is my One-Minute reflection.

In the Gospel, Jesus enters the synagogue, throws out the merchants, and we hear “Zeal for your house will consume me.” Paul then reminds us, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God?” Jesus not only has zeal for the synagogue. He has zeal for us!

After a long day of teaching, I need a break. However, if I’m not careful, I can watch videos mindlessly, and before I know it, the evening is gone and I am left wanting.

What would it look like for us to give our evenings to Christ and allow him to fill them with life? We could pray in quiet, connect with a friend, or get physically active. When we allow Christ to enter our heart, mind, and body, he gives us the needed rest and rejuvenation. This week, let’s be intentional with our evenings and allow Christ’s zeal to rejuvenate us.
