Keeping Our Eyes On The Road | One-Minute Homily

by | Nov 13, 2022 | One-Minute Homily, Videos

When we are in the car, we have to keep our eyes on the road. When it comes to our faith, we have to keep our eyes on Jesus. Emanuel Arenas, SJ, reflects on keeping focused and avoiding distractions in this week’s One-Minute Homily. Based on the readings for Sunday, November 13, 2022.

What can we learn from driving?

My name is Emmanuel Arenas and this is my One-Minute Reflection.

When we drive a car, our eyes and our mind must be focused on where we are going. If we become distracted, shifting our focus to something else, we risk placing ourselves and others in danger.

Life can be compared to driving a car. Our eyes and our focus must be on Jesus. Along the way, there will be many worldly distractions that will call for our attention. At times we might be tempted by pleasure and honor. Other times, we might be mocked and criticized for what we believe as Catholics.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus encourages us to persevere in the faith, keeping our eyes and our hearts focused on him. Like a good friend reminding us to “keep our eyes on the road,” Jesus has given us the Church and his grace to help us. With this help, we will surely persevere and arrive safely at our final destination.
