Jesus: Image of the Invisible God | One-Minute Homily

by | Jul 10, 2022 | One-Minute Homily, Videos

God is made visible to us in Jesus Christ. Emmanuel Arenas, SJ, reminds us that through the love of God, we continually have the opportunity to encounter Jesus in the Eucharist. Based on the readings for Sunday, July 10, 2022.

Why is the Eucharist important for our understanding of God?

I’m Emmanuel Arenas and this is my One-Minute Reflection.

We first come to know what things are through our bodies. This is part of being human. For example, a baby will begin to understand the world by looking, touching, and tasting everything in sight.

Today we hear that “Christ Jesus is the image of the invisible God.” Why would God make himself visible in the person of Jesus? Well, God, being infinitely good, wishes to communicate Himself to us in a way that we can understand and come to know him.

This is the beauty of the Incarnation and the Eucharist. When we receive the Eucharist at Mass or when we pray before the Blessed Sacrament, we encounter Jesus in a real and tangible way. God, never wanting us to be alone, presents himself through the sacraments so that we may never be in doubt of his love and mercy for us.
