My relationship with God and my relationship with sleep have a lot in common. Don’t get me wrong: that doesn’t mean I sleep when I pray! Nor would I trade prayer for sleep. Truth is: I need them both, and for a lot of the same reasons.
Here are 7 ways that prayer and slumber look surprisingly similar to me:
1. They both connect me with my dreams and desires…
2. But without either one, I get real cranky…
3. When I am done, I find myself wanting more…
4. When I’m stressed, I need a little bit of both in the middle of the day to refocus…
5. Sometimes it is a real struggle to settle in, quiet down, and get comfortable…
6. Occasionally, they happen in unexpected places…
7. I need both to live happily…

So here’s a good life principle:
SLEEP MORE AND PRAY MORE!!!
P.S. “Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.” –Matthew 8:24
