One guy would grab a fiddle, another the tin whistle. Someone would run for an accordion, and somehow we always found a drum. Lacking musical talent, I just grabbed a beer. We all had our part to play.
So began many great evenings during my second year as a Jesuit. I would walk out onto our porch and catch a group of guys playing Irish tunes and generally having a great time. Our house was full of musicians that year.
One of the best was TJP contributor Ryan Duns. Ryan has been playing Irish music since he was 8 years old, and yesterday he got the chance to show off his tin whistle talent on Detroit TV. Enjoy the video and Have a Very Happy Saint Patricks Day.
