Joshua Peters, SJ is an 8th generation descendant of Acadians who escaped diaspora and settled in Detroit before the United States even existed. He lived in Chicago for the past six years while he pursued a master’s degree in social philosophy and taught at Christ the King Jesuit College Prep, even if, according to his sophomores, he was “always doin’ too much.” Though he studied on the North Side and taught on the West Side, he worshiped at St. Benedict the African Church on the South Side where he sang in the gospel choir and was made a Knight of St. Peter Claver. He is currently an M.Div. student at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, CA.
