Jesus wants your trust, not your fear or shame. Austin Kleman, SJ reflects on the openness we should have with God and how to share that with others. Based on the readings for the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
God isn’t looking for your secret journal.
Hi, I’m Austin Kleman, and this is my One-Minute reflection.
Often, when we hear Jesus say, “Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed,” we tend to think of all the mistakes we’ve made or the secrets we’ve kept. Almost like Jesus is interrogating us with a single lamp in a dark room.
But what if Jesus was offering us freedom and not judgment? Freedom to accept ourselves for who we are and be honest with Jesus about our lives. Not turning inwards to ourselves when life gets difficult, but leaning on God, our faith, family, or friends. And then inviting others to do the same.
Building up a community of support and trust. Letting ourselves be loved in freedom for who we are rather than hiding in secrets of who we are not.
Jesus wants to be with you for all of who you are, not judge you for your struggles.
