When he gives us the Beatitudes, Jesus offers us a roadmap to fulfillment and authentic joy. Brennan Dour, SJ reflects how the Beatitudes focus our daily actions for a life centered on God. Based on the readings for the 4th Sunday of Ordinary Time.
Ugghh… I’m lost, where was I supposed to turn??
Hi, I’m Brennan Dour, and this is my One-Minute reflection.
Jesus gives us a roadmap with the Beatitudes. When we feel like we’ve gotten off-course or don’t know what to do in a situation, we can always turn back to them and find direction.
Through the Beatitudes, Jesus reminds us that by embracing mercy, striving for a clean heart, and working for peace, we can always re-center ourselves in God and follow our true path.
This roadmap may not always give us the directions we want. But, no matter how many times we encounter the Beatitudes, we are always tasked with incorporating them ever more into our daily lives.
Experiencing persecution? Thirsting for righteousness? Living meekly? Jesus’s message might contradict what we expect, but his roadmap will never fail to help us find direction, fulfillment, and authentic joy.
