Sometimes our world feels like it is crashing down. In times like these, Greg Okumu, SJ reflects this is when Jesus can be closest to us. Based on the readings for the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
When life falls apart, what next??
Hi, I’m Greg Okumu, and this is my One-Minute reflection.
“We all have a temple. Something solid, beautiful, that we think will last forever.”
For me, it was a relationship I loved. A job I thought was the future. A dream I was sure was from God—until it all came crashing down.
That’s what Jesus is getting at when he tells the disciples, “Not one stone will be left on another.” They’re admiring the temple. And Jesus says, “It’s all coming down.” But here’s the twist: he doesn’t say, “Run.” He says, “This is your moment to give testimony.”
Not when you’ve figured it all out. Right there in the wreckage. He promises: “I will give you wisdom.”
So if your world feels like it’s cracking—maybe you’re not off track. Maybe you’re right where Jesus is speaking.
