Breakfast with Jesus | One-Minute Homily

by | May 4, 2025 | One-Minute Homily

Jesus cooked breakfast for Peter and the Apostles. Fr. Michael Mohr, SJ, reflects on how Jesus calls us to feed Christ’s sheep through our loving witness and service to others. Based on the readings for the Third Sunday of Easter.

Begin your morning with breakfast with Jesus.

I’m Father Michael Mohr and this is my One Minute Homily.

In today’s Gospel we hear how Peter and the apostles resign themselves to their old ways, spending all night on the lake fishing. The resurrected Jesus greeting them with breakfast shatters any sense of despair that their time with Him was over. In fact, we see Peter find forgiveness and a renewed commission to Feed Christ’s sheep.

Even though Peter felt that he was at the dusk of his days, little did he know that a new day was dawning. Peter’s commission is the same one we receive from Jesus. Every new day of our lives is a chance to share in the mission of Christ. Like in today’s Gospel, we can start each morning with a prayerful encounter with Christ. Our own “Breakfast with Jesus” can renew our commitment as collaborators as we go out in the world to feed Christ’s sheep.
