We are called to embrace the “already, but not yet.”
Hi, I’m Brian Kemper and this is my one-minute reflection.
After a retreat I made over the summer, a good friend told me that life is not “a set of problems to be solved, but a mystery to be lived.” In today’s Gospel, we get a glimpse of that very mystery. We neither know the day nor the hour when the kingdom will come again. And yet… we do not need to have it figured out. Rather, we are invited to embrace the kingdom as the “already, but not yet.”
The kingdom of God is already here on earth in so many ways. We witness the kingdom when we see the face of Christ in those around us, walk with the poor, visit the sick, and simply treat others with love.
And yet… as we wait for the second coming that Jesus speaks about, we are still able to see how His kingdom is already alive in the world around us.
