Merry Christmas! On this day we celebrate the miracle that God entered into our very humanity. Damian Torres-Botello, SJ, reflects on the incarnation of Jesus in this special One-Minute Homily.
It’s happened! Jesus is born! Amen and Merry Christmas!
Hello! I’m Damian Torres-Botello and this is my One-Minute Reflection.
In six more days we will ring in 2020. But, that’s the future. We must remain present to today, as we’ve attempted to do throughout Advent. But in our Gospel today, John invites us to take a look back to the very beginning — to the Word. And what is that Word? Jesus. Come on, say the Word with me… Jesus.
Jesus was not only God from the beginning but was God. And creation itself, even you and me, we all originated from that very same life-giving force. Amen, right?!
Today, the Word became flesh and begins to dwell amongst us. On this day, Jesus becomes en-fleshed, able to walk, talk, share a coffee, laugh, and mourn with us. What a Christmas this is indeed!
As we approach the precipice of another year, we take time to remember the greatest event of all: God entering into our world, not just for a visit, but as a permanent partner in our lives.
May we intentionally enter into our hearts and meet Jesus in love, excitement, and gratitude.
