What kind of faith is lost (and found) at college? That’s the question Michael C. McCarthy, SJ tackles in his TJP debut essay, responding to Rick Santorum’s well-publicized concern about higher education undermining belief. As faithful readers will have come to expect by now, the answer is never as simple as the question looks. But that’s not the only topic getting the TJP treatment last week:
- Finding God in all things — another week with our bloggers:
- In the middle of a bunch of Benedictines, Joe Simmons learns to find the thin places
- Dodging a rainstorm leads to finding God on an immersion trip for Matt Spotts
- Grateful for the tremendous response to last week’s piece on his vocation, Brendan Busse lets us know that it’s all still more than he (or we) can imagine
- Jeff Johnson wonders what it takes to grow beyond the temptations to “little fascisms”
- Back in the TJP pop-culture workshop:
- Paul Lickteig mixes it up with a commentary on our mashup age,
- Tim O’Brien confesses to having Miley Cyrus on his iPod (don’t worry, we won’t tell),
- Speaking of confession, Sam Sawyer finds that 10 seconds of silence on This American Life speaks volumes
- And Perry Petrich (via John Steinbeck) remembers the springtime the wisdom of falling in love
- And we didn’t ignore the Supreme Court frenzy early last week; Michael Rozier had already covered it in our very first week
Holy Week has begun, and we’re hopeful that you’ll keep walking with us through as we look for the holiness that is the sign of God in our world. Easter comes, and in that season of celebration it only gets better.
