On Pentecost, Jesus offers the Holy Spirit to each of us in an individual way so that we can each build up the body of the church. Brennan Dour, SJ asks: Where has the Holy Spirit been tugging on your heart? Based on the readings for Pentecost Sunday.
Wait… the Holy Spirit is a gift… for me??
Hi, I’m Brennan Dour, and this is my One-Minute reflection.
On Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the sending forth of the Holy Spirit to guide the church. Like the early Christians, we experience this gift of the spirit in community. But it’s also a deeply personal gift.
We hear in First Corinthians that the power of the Holy Spirit is given to each of us individually so that we can serve God and fulfill our mission as Christians.
Through the Holy Spirit, we experience the Lord’s grace, and the personal invitation he places before each one of us.
The Church is one body that needs everyone – it needs you and the gifts that only you can offer.
Remember, the gift of the Holy Spirit has already been poured out on you, and it’s flame is meant to be spread. Where’s the Holy Spirit drawing you this week?
