Hearts on Fire | One-Minute Homily

by | Apr 19, 2026 | One-Minute Homily

When our hearts are burning, God is speaking to us. Chris Kinkor, SJ reflects on how looking back on our day and noticing our emotions can help us see where God is at work in our lives. Based on the readings for the 3rd Sunday of Easter.

Heart’s on fire? That’s God speaking to you!

Hi, I’m Chris Kinkor, and this is my One Minute Reflection.

Life gets busy—school, work, travel, spending time with friends—it all piles up. In the rush, it’s easy to miss God’s presence in our daily lives.

In Luke 24, Jesus walked with the disciples to Emmaus. Even though He spoke to them, they didn’t recognize Him until just before He left. Only later did they realize their hearts were burning within them. Looking back, it all made sense: God was with them the whole time.

St. Ignatius of Loyola also invites us to look back through the Daily Examen. When we pause and reflect on where we felt peace, joy, or hope, we learn to recognize God at work. With practice, we start noticing when our hearts are on fire. That’s a sign that God is near, even if it takes some time to notice Him.
