Week in Review — March 11-17, 2012

by | Mar 19, 2012 | Week in Review

Despite March Madness (eight Jesuit teams in the men’s tourney, and three in the women’s!), which our own Perry Petrich covered, we managed to steal some time between buzzer beaters to do some posting.  As always, we’re back to catch you up on it with Week in Review.

  • Being kind for Lent? Well, if Fr. James Martin says so — though we’re not so sure about the VHS reference
  • It may not be how you usually think about confession, but Matt Spotts asks what your best penance ever was
  • Two reflections from Jesuits on mission:
    • Jason Brauninger on struggling with poor in both Haiti and Denver (with an intro from Louis Armstrong)
    • Tony Lusvardi, from the experience of funerals on the reservation in South Dakota, on how we speak of heaven
  • Continuing our technology coverage:
    • Is the web making us stupid? Hold on — Tim O’Brien will google it and get back to you
    • Eric Sundrup on the SXSW Homeless Hotspots controversy (we promise he posted from a hardwired connection)
  • Vader resigned from the Death Star? Nope — just from Goldman Sachs, apparently; Sam Sawyer has the details
  • Brendan Busse has a creative ideation, courtesy of some of LA’s angels
  • And for those who’d rather watch than read:

Till next week, may the road rise to meet you, the wind be always at your back — and TJP only a click away.
